A brass plaque on display at Ilford Lane Methodist Church indicates that a communion enclosure was built to commemorate ‘the men of the church who fought in the Great War’.

It is not clear whether this plaque and the communion enclosure were originally part of Ilford High Road Church (which was demolished in the 1960s) or the former Ilford Lane Church (which was damaged by a bomb in 1940 and subsequently demolished in the 1950s).

The plaque is currently on display at Ilford Lane Methodist Church.
